Olaf Hernandez is a London based creative, currently making waves in the world of digital fashion.
Commended for mastering the art of authentic content curation, Olaf’s considered online presence, and visually distinctive presentation of bold, colourful streetwear inspired fits, not only appeal to his ever-growing army of loyal followers, but to a much broader demographic also – with the Spanish natives cohesive aesthetic, and keen attention to detail leaving the internet in awe of his courageous style choices, and unique interpretation of contemporary trends.

Born in Ibiza, and raised by his hard working single Mother and two sisters, Olaf’s love of clothing dates back to the 1990’s where through various childhood experiences he was able to develop a genuine affection for the art of fashion.
Having studied marketing and communications at MSMK: The University of Science & Technology in Madrid, Hernandez spent several years working in retail, and as an assistant stylist, before moving to London to pursue a new life in 2016.
“Being here in London has taught me so much.” Olaf admits. “This city has opened my eyes to a whole new way of living. I think in the past I was quite limited in my thinking, and therefore wasn’t really reaching my full potential in anything I was doing. But once I got here, it was like I took my blinders off and I saw my life in a completely different way… I mean, would you believe that before I came to London, I only ever used to wear black clothing! Look at me now, it’s like colour is my new best friend (laughs).”
Of his transition into the world of content creating, Hernandez explains: “Before COVID I had a very, very small online presence – I think I only had about 2,000 followers on Instagram and that was it. Like everyone else, I was so very bored during lockdown, and I missed having a set routine to stick too, so I started to exercise more to give myself, and my days a bit of structure.”
“As superficial as it may sound, seeing the physical results of my workouts really boosted my self-esteem, which then gave me more confidence to post the odd selfie here and there, and that’s honestly how this whole thing got started. People seemed to like the clothes I was wearing, and the way I styled an outfit, and by the summer I had over 10,000 followers. From there I’ve just focused all of my energies into making the best of every opportunity presented to me.”
We caught up with Olaf Hernandez for the latest edition of our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite Neighbourhood:
I think Notting Hill is one of the most aesthetically pleasing places to visit in the whole of London, so for that reason alone, I’m going to say that’s definitely my favourite neighbourhood. There are lots of cute little cafes and some great vintage stores, as well as Portobello Road Market. I would recommend anybody visiting, or new to the city visit there… especially in the spring time when all of the cherry trees are in bloom.
Favourite place for brunch:
Cecconi’s Shoreditch is my go-to place for brunch! They have an amazing selection of freshly made dishes to choose from, and a great drinks menu. More than anything though, I just really like the atmosphere there, the service is always really great and they even do a live music event once a week!
Best coffee in London:
WatchHouse – go try it and you will understand why (laughs).
Favourite gallery or museum:
I love the Tate Modern because they have so many amazing exhibitions! I also really like White Cube because although it may not be on as grand a scale as the Tate, they do have some really cool rotating exhibits that showcase the work of some incredible artists.
Tell us a secret:
I have a phobia of ants! I couldn’t tell you why, but for some reason I’ve been afraid of them my whole life. I am working on conquering my fear though, and I’d say the situation is definitely improving!
Favourite place to shop:
Dover Street Market because of how much variety there is! You’ve got your premium and high end brands, but then also lots of different little charity shops where you can often find really charming, pre-loved pieces!
Favourite place to find inspiration:
East London. You always see the coolest people, with incredibly unique style hanging out there – I love it.
Best London destination for a date:
A walk by the Regent’s Canal, followed by a picnic on the grass with a glass of wine!
Favourite park:
Hampstead Heath is really beautiful and peaceful. It’s a place I go to a lot in the summer, and actually somewhere I visited quite a bit last winter as well. For me personally I find it really important to connect with nature, because it helps me to stay present and not worry so much about the future.
Favourite food market:
There are so many amazing food markets in London, but Borough Market is the one that springs to mind, because they such a nice variety of food for people of all nationalities.
Your sanctuary in the city:
My flat! Because I travel so much for work I’m away from home a lot, and although I love getting to see and visit new places, I miss having my own space. So when I am in town for long periods of time, I really relish being in my place and being in familiar surroundings.
What inspires you?
My Mum, my partner, art, people, unconventional things, and everything with colour.
This season I’m loving…
Big sunglasses – the bolder the better! I just got some really cool new ones from La Maskarade that I am crazy in love with!
