'Emigré x Dom Chung
In his new role as Global Brand Ambassador for 'Emigré, Dom is able to combine is passion for both travel and fashion.
As the brainchild of a collective of ex-The North Face, Ralph Lauren, Crafted Goods and Lands’ End minds, the premium travel wear label offers bags, apparel, and accessories that promise to “make business travel better”.
Designed with the modern traveller in mind, 'Emigré’s collection can be taken as a whole, creating the “essential” travel wardrobe for professionals. But of course, each piece also works on its own and can be seamlessly integrated into an existing wardrobe.
We caught up with Dom Chung for the latest edition of our ‘My London’ interview series.
Favourite neighbourhood:
Hackney – I live just off Broadway Market and I still love East London, nowhere beats it in terms of food, bars, parks, vibe and people. My Dad is from East Ham, so I’ve felt connected to East London from an early age.
Favourite place for brunch:
Towpath Cafe is the best summertime canal spot for brunch! I love the atmosphere, and the food is delicious – just make sure you get there early to avoid the queues.
Best coffee in London:
Yeast in Hackney does amazing coffee – they’re also a really nice family-run business and a regular spot for me.
Also honourable shout-outs to Pavilion and Forno.
Favourite gallery or museum:
The Barbican is one of my favourite buildings in London, so I’m always happy to head there for some inner-city escapism to check out what’s on. I also really like The National Portrait Gallery, and I’m excited about the reopening.
Tell us a secret:
I haven’t watched ‘Succession’… I know.
Favourite place to shop:
You can’t beat Liberty in Soho for a comprehensive multi-genre experience. On a similar tip, I enjoy Merci in Paris, especially for home bits.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
London is full of inspiration; you just need to be open-minded to connect to it. I see inspiring things every day just walking the streets, being culturally plugged into what’s happening around me, and absorbing information.
Best London destination for a date:
BRAT is where I took my girlfriend on our first date, and it is still one of our go-to destinations. Thank you, BRAT, that was an excellent first date.
Favourite park:
Victoria Park, it’s less hectic than London Fields, there’s a weekly food market and it’s home to some of the City’s best Festivals, what’s not to like? They just need to bring back the fireworks display properly.
Favourite food market:
Broadway Market, I’m there every Saturday if I’m in town. It’s best to get there early as they’re setting everything up, I love watching the market come alive early doors.
Your sanctuary in the city:
Chinatown is one of the places I truly love going solo.
What inspires you?
My friends and family, always, and ultimately my beautiful partner, Christie, who keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward for an exciting future together.
This season I’m loving…
My 'Emigré Tote Bag for work and travel. I’m using it daily because it’s so smart and practical.
