Favourite Neighbourhood:
Kings Cross, and particularly the area around Coal Drop Yards, holds a special place in my heart. I’ve called this neighbourhood home for about a decade, and it’s hard to imagine living anywhere else. Kings Cross is a lively and dynamic area with a unique charm. It boasts a diverse range of cafes, pedestrian-friendly streets, small parks, and the artistic atmosphere from Central Saint Martins. What truly captivates me is the way modern and old architecture seamlessly blend here. The neighbourhood has grown busier over the years, and it’s a place where events and activities seem to pop up all the time, often leading to delightful surprises on my way home. It’s a vibrant and inspiring place where each day can bring something new.
Favourite Place for Brunch:
Although I’m not a regular brunch-goer, Balans 60 in Soho is a standout choice for me when the mood for brunch strikes. The food is undeniably amazing, but what sets this spot apart is its artistic interior. The graphic photos and paintings add a unique touch to the dining experience. What’s especially intriguing is that there always seems to be some explicit image I haven’t encountered before, making each visit a bit of an artistic adventure.
Best Coffee in London:
When it comes to coffee, I have two clear favourites. When I’m on the move, I can’t resist the iced cappuccino from Soho Cafe on Wigmore Street. It’s not just a coffee; it’s a personal connection. The barista there created the iced cappuccino specifically for me, and it truly stands out. There’s something special about someone going the extra mile to make a unique something just for you, and I value that personal touch. I also do my best to incorporate this into my brand. Another favourite is Isabelle in Mayfair, a place I like to visit on quieter weekend mornings, often on Saturdays or Sundays. It offers the perfect balance of being in the heart of a bustling area while still providing a chill atmosphere. The quality of their coffee is matched by their excellent food offerings, I often end up eating there if I am not going to lie.
Favourite Gallery or Museum:
Though I’m not a frequent visitor to art galleries and museums, the Tate Modern is a place I can truly appreciate contemporary art and find inspiration in its creative expressions. I’m also drawn to pop-up art shows and galleries, especially those that showcase the work of new and emerging artists. A recent visit to an East London art show, courtesy of a dear friend, left a lasting impression. The dedication and attention to detail in the portrait work I saw was just amazing. It’s something I’ve always admired, the dedication and the small details that make all the difference – a principle I apply to my own designs as well.
Tell Us a Secret:
I’m generally an open book and do not really have a secret to share. I find myself to be very transparent and open which always leads to more meaningful and genuine connections. However, I have lots of embarrassing stories to share. Life has an uncanny way of putting me in amusing and sometimes hilarious situations. It’s almost like a stand-up comedy show starring yours truly!
Favourite Place to Shop:
When it comes to shopping, I’m a focused shopper, and my destination of choice is Selfridges. With just three favourite brands, it’s like a curated museum where I can touch and purchase the exhibits. I often find myself wandering around exploring the latest collections and designs.
Favourite Place to Find Inspiration:
I would like to think that the main source of inspiration is urban environments. I find myself most inspired in bustling areas, I like to sit on a bench and observe the world around me, it really helps me tap into the creative energy. However, I must admit that I do not always go looking for inspiration in specific places. I believe that inspiration can be found everywhere and at any moment, for me, it’s about being in the right frame of mind. When I’m balanced and in the right mood, I tend to find inspiration in everything around me. Whether it’s a bustling urban environment, a quiet moment in nature, a piece of art, or even a simple everyday experience, I’ve learned to be open and receptive to the world. Inspiration, in my view, can emerge unexpectedly from any corner of life, and I embrace that spontaneity in my creative process.
Best London Destination for a Date:
While I may not be a dating expert, I do have a charming suggestion for a dinner date. Faros in Holborn is a delightful spot, especially if both have an appreciation for Italian cuisine. It’s a cozy and intimate setting for a lovely dinner and engaging conversation. To round off the evening, Rosewood Hotel nearby is great. They offer live music and a fantastic ambiance, creating the ideal setting for a memorable night out. It’s a recipe for a perfect date night, even if I don’t go on dates often.
Favourite Park:
Although it may not be a traditional park, the Mayfair gardens is a special place for me. I’m drawn to urban aesthetics and architecture, and this area has a unique charm. If we’re talking about proper parks, Regents Park, especially during the winter when it’s covered in snow, stands out as a captivating escape within the city.
Favourite Food Market:
I love Mercato Metropolitano for its diverse and authentic cuisines from around the world. This is my go-to place when I’m in the mood to explore new flavours or when I simply can’t decide what to eat. It’s a place where I can take culinary risks and try something new, especially when I’m feeling particularly hungry.
Your Sanctuary in the City:
My sanctuary is undoubtedly my home. It’s a place where I can unwind, self-reflect, and recharge. I often play some chill music, revelling in the comfort of my own company. While I enjoy being social and spending time with others, I equally value the solitude and peace that my home offers. It’s a space where I can regain my balance. Additionally, my gym serves as a secondary sanctuary. It’s a place where I can isolate myself, focus on intense workouts, and then indulge in some relaxation, particularly through swimming. It’s a balanced combination of physical activity and mindfulness.
What Inspires You:
I draw inspiration from two primary sources. Firstly, I’m fascinated by architecture, especially the seamless blend of modern and historic styles never ceases to amaze me. It’s a concept that I incorporate into my own design work, such as using leather, which has historical roots, to create contemporary shapes that symbolise modernity. Another significant source of inspiration is people. I find it fascinating to notice how individuals express themselves through their fashion choices, behaviours, and interactions. It’s the small details and unique touches that make people stand out, and I love to translate those observations into my designs, always striving to make things slightly better.
This Season I’m Loving…
The current season has brought a wave of minimalism, which I live for. The prevalence of monochromatic and clean aesthetics, combined with a shift towards classic and elegant styles, is a trend that resonates with my personal taste. It’s a refreshing departure from the more cluttered and complex fashion trends of the past, and I am 100% enjoying this return to simplicity and timeless elegance
