Cult fashion marketplace Depop has worked with four young creatives on a collaboration with Vans.
The six-piece capsule collection is all about championing community and taps into the creative expression that Vans sneakers represent for so many.
London-based multimedia artist Jessica Luostarinen has created three products – the Super ComfyCush Era, a customized black long sleeve tee and a white oversized hoodie. Her illustrations are inspired by the fun things in life “like dancing and laughing”. “I want people to feel confident and unique,” she explains.
For the rest of the footwear in the collaboration collection, artist and photographer Yuki Hazi has reinterpreted the platform-soled Super ComfyCush Slip-on. LeMai LeMaow, a Manchester-based artist specialising in graffiti murals and signwriting, recreates the ComfyCush Era, while collage artist and skate brand-owner Connor WIlliams takes inspiration from the rave scene in London for his own take on the ComfyCush Old Skool.
To celebrate the launch, Depop is partnering with Snapchat on an augmented reality Snap-lense that allows users to virtually ‘try on’ the Vans x Depop footwear. Using the app, Snapchatters can switch between all four styles in the collection, digitally overlaid with their own feet.
The Vans x Depop collection is available exclusively on the Depop app, footlocker.eu and selected Foot Locker stores across the UK and Europe.
